Step 1 - Take out the impression clay and press into bottom of plate, making the surface as smooth as possible.
Step 3 - Add the child's name to the plaque. Write a mirror image of the
name as it will be turned over when you do the cast.Tip: Write their name with a magic marker on a napkin or pane of glass, invert it to see how it needs to be written on the plaque.
Step 6 - Set the wire hanger into the plaster as soon as it starts to set. (Approx. 1 minute) Step 7 - Let sit undisturbed for 2 hours.
Step 8 - Remove from plate and pull away the impression material. It will stick to the stone. Using your fingers, smooth away as much as you can and then wash the rest away under warm water with a soft brush or wash cloth. (A mushroom brush or an old soft toothbrush work well.) The clay can be re-used. Put it into an airtight container for future use.
You can clean up the edges with fine sandpaper after it is dry. You can also finish it off with metallic spray paints or lacquer. White school glue mixed with water also makes a nice glaze, 1 to 4 ratio. |

Take a small amount of the clay and roll it out to about a 1/16th to 1/8th inch thickness.
Use a cookie cutter or similar to obtain the shape that you want (heart, oval, star etc).
Put that shape aside and press the rest of the impression material into the plate.
Do the impression of the child or pet and then gently press the shape into its place. It should only be slightly raised. (Remember that anything raised will end up recessed and vice versa.)
A small cameo or frame can be added instead (see picture on box front). Simply place it face down into the desired location in the clay and press it down slightly prior to casting the impression.
Brush any dirt off of the paw before starting, then impress the paw about 1/4" or 1cm into the impression material. Lightly press on the toes if you want the claws to show.
Don't worry about a little hair or dirt getting into the impression as it will brush off easily after the stone powder is set.
There is nothing harmful to your pet in this product. Don't worry if they try to lick it.
Most pets will be easier to handle if you do the impression while they are eating.
